Trust:  Reliance on the character, ability, strength, or truth of someone or something.   

Respect:  A feeling of deep admiration for someone or something elicited by their abilities, qualities, or achievements.

Responsibility:  The state or fact of being accountable or to blame for something.

As young adults all students must have trust in themselves, their abilities, and their fellow students.   If you don’t trust in your abilities, and your peers, you limit your opportunity to grow, learn, and enjoy new experiences. 

I also feel that you must have respect for yourself and in your peers, teachers, administrators and support staff.  It is easy to state that respect is earned not given.  However, I believe that respect for yourself and others should not only be a given but an expectation within our classroom.

Responsibility should be something that you strive to attain in your personal life.  You are generally responsible for the successes and challenges in your life and should not blame others for situations that you find yourself in.  Once you seek to live up to your responsibilities you will find yourself seeking out ways to exceed your personal expectations.

My classroom management plan is, and will continue to be, successful because I staunchly believe that my students all want to be trusted, respected and seek out responsibility.  I follow the Sioux Falls School District student handbook when addressing student behavior.   Within the first two weeks of a quarter my classroom rules, expectations and procedures are clearly communicated to all of my students.
